Foi o primeiro piloto a ir ao espaço e o primeiro piloto a pousar numa nave espacial brasileira.
Com a missão 4️⃣ de colocar astronautas como comandante comercial do programa espacial Discovery, da NASA, em órbita no Havaí no dia 29 de 4️⃣ agosto de 2017, o piloto brasileiro completou a missão completa sem deixar qualquer parte do cockpit do Ônibus Espacial.
O Discovery 4️⃣ foi anunciado em 22 de julho de 2018 e navegado para o espaço pela primeira vez no dia 23 de 4️⃣ agosto,
com uma expedição com quinze integrantes.
Na primeira missão da missão, um veículo pousou no Centro Espacial de Kourou e em 4️⃣ seguida navegou para um ponto não previsto de 10 mil km - no Oceano Índico, o destino já escolhido.
